Cedarcrest GAIUS Foundation is a not-for-profit organization affiliated with Cedarcrest Hospitals. Though GAIUS draws on Cedarcrest Hospitals local and international network, as well as the professional expertise of its staff, it is independent of the Hospital.
GAIUS is an acronym for Give and It Will Uplift Someone. GAIUS was birthed to serve as a beacon of hope to people who might require special surgical care but are otherwise unable to afford it. Our current focus is on children living with deformities and disabilities, with the aim of correcting these at an early stage through surgery and other related interventions. We also focus on children and adults that are suffering from the sequelae of cerebral palsy, post-polio syndrome and sickle cell bone and joint disease.

OUR COMPLETED CAMPAIGN
Sochima is a 6 year old boy, he is such a bubbly child and ever smiling and doting big brother to his younger siblings. A few years back, Sochima was a very sick and unhappy child struggling to survive, due to an accident he had when he was 4 years old. Unfortunately he experienced a botch in the traditional treatment his parents had resulted to for treatment of the fracture he sustained. This botch treatment became detrimental to his health as Sochima developed a life threatening infection which began to spread to other organs.
An 11 year old girl suffering from Cerebral Palsy, who came to Cedarcrest Hospitals Abuja, on the 7th of June 2018 to see the Paediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Sanya Adedapo. After examining and reviewing her case, the surgeon believed that surgery could remedy her condition. This condition had impeded Reliance from living a happy and fulfilling life, as she could not be the big sister to her younger siblings, nor move around and play with neither them nor her peers, she even had to drop out of school. Reliance has had to undergo continuous physiotherapy sessions for the past 11 years.
The first time we met Fiddausi, she had a gloomy look, same look was reflected on the faces of her mom and elder brother who had traveled all the way from Kano to Abuja with the hope for a needed solution both in terms of surgical and financial solutions.
While interacting with Fiddausi, one can tell that she is a brilliant child with great prospects for the future, yet bound to her wheelchair due to multiple fractures in both femur.
OUR ONGOING CAMPAIGN
WHAT OUR BENEFICIARIES HAS TO SAY
When we came to Cedarcrest Hospital’s and I saw the huge building my spirit became low again as I knew we would not be able to pay for Reliance’s surgery; but GAIUS uplifted our spirit. There is nothing we can say or give that will repay the great thing GAIUS has done for me and my family.
What GAIUS did for this my son and my family; it is only God that can reward them. We have gone to so many places and hospitals looking for medical help and financial support, and we were even told to go to India but we could not afford the money for the trip let alone for his treatment.
I never knew that such favour will come to me and my family, if GAIUS had not come to our rescue I do not know what would have become of my son and my family. Maybe my husband would have sold all he had and we would have been forced to move to the village.
